go to the pet store and get a bottle of puppy shampo, make sure it says for puppies. don’t use any of that other stuff D:

but seibu we don’t have pet stores over here (we used to but it went out of business). nearest place I can get puppy shampoos is at mall (which is really far)

maybe I can ask my neighbor if they could lend me some pet soap since they have doge too. if not then I’ll just use plain water uguu

notice:

the author of this blag is not dead. just tons of inactivity at the moment because of trying to write (but mostly its vicious amounts of frustration, self-loathing, crying, running in circles, hair-pulling, yelling, and wall-punching).

we appreciate your patience and consideration

thank

15th century book in Mezquita

16th century movable book from Italy

linhtalinhtinh:

How beautiful ;(.

… This first generation of international publishers did not merely make and sell books; they were scholars and patrons who translated the classics, nurtured their authors, and wrote original works. Their continual redesigning of letter forms gave rise to the new art of typography.

As a whole, the early printed book of good quality was a work of art. The page was a composition - whence the name compositor for the typesetter. Margins, space between lines, indents, capital letters - everything was in studied proportion, and the woodcut illustrations were by master hands 0 Holbein, Durer, Cranach among the most prolific.

As a physical object, the Humanist book differed in several respects from those that now overcrowd the city dweller’s shelves. To 16th century scholars our usual octavo volume … seemed miniaturized. Theirs was a thick and heavy folio measuring 12 by 15 inches or more. Folio means that the large printer’s sheet of thick rag paper was folded once to provide four pages. These were bound in leather - or vellum - covered boards - real boards, of wood, held shut by a metal clasp at midpoint of the vertical; cloth binding is only 175 years old. Often, a chain was attached to the book for safekeeping; it might be stolen - strange ideas! As late as the 1750s, once such book,a folio Shakespeare, could be found moored to a lectern in the library at Yale…

I started replaying KOTOR for breaks (as a female protagonist, this time inclining towards Juhani instead of Carth) and holy frig I was so young back then to catch some of these references (especially about that woman who was implied to have had sex with a droid in place of her dead husband).

goodstuffhappenedtoday:

Oh, this? Just some teenage girls from Africa who invented a urine-powered generator.

How’s this for an innovative startup: four African girls — the eldest of which is just fifteen years old— have worked together to invent a generator that’s powered by urine. The group presented their creation at this year’s Maker Faire Africa, and it’s so freaking brilliant it makes me want travel back in time and punch 15-year-old me right in the solar plexus.

The Next Web lays out how it works:

  • Urine is put into an electrolytic cell, which cracks the urea into nitrogen, water, and hydrogen.
  • The hydrogen goes into a water filter for purification, which then gets pushed into the gas cylinder.
  • The gas cylinder pushes hydrogen into a cylinder of liquid borax, which is used to remove the moisture from the hydrogen gas.
  • This purified hydrogen gas is pushed into the generator.

  • 1 Liter of urine gives you 6 hours of electricity.

Here’s hoping these girls can get the funding they need to take this idea to new heights. Even if they don’t, we’ve got a feeling they’re going places.

Read more over at The Next Web.
